Interledger grantees work across the world in different financial environments, from regions with limited infrastructure to highly connected digital economies. They include community-based organizations, researchers, technologists, and advocates who build infrastructure, advance research, shape policy, and expand how financial systems work in practice.

  1. Castapod - Ad Aures

    Castopod, an open source podcasting platform, to support the latest draft of the Web Monetization standard and develop new capability for including wallet addresses in social web feeds. Demonstrate interoperability with Mastodon and other social web apps that have enabled Web Monetization at Fosdem 2025 and Fediforum in April 2025. Castopod’s previous implementation of Web Monetization must be updated in order to work with the new browser extension and other apps. The latest draft of the proposed Web Monetization standard contains backwardsincompatible changes. Additionally, the specification has changed how to include Web Monetization wallet addresses in the RSS 2.0 feed format used by the podcasting ecosystem and the Atom and JSON Feed formats used by the RSS ecosystem.

Such efforts align with our mission to provide equitable access to innovation and empower marginalized communities through advocacy and tech education.

    Attention-based podcast monetization is being explored within the tech community but no solution has been widely adopted. Most podcasts are monetized through advertising or subscriptions through platforms like Apple and Spotify which help producers earn revenue while also taking their own cut, tying listener’s consumption to their proprietary platform. What is needed is another option for podcast monetization that is as open and standards-based as podcasting itself and that connects support from listeners to the productions themselves.

  5. Kult - A human-centered social platform & digital library for cultural content curation

    Kult is a network-based platform for culture & entertainment content curation. It is a space to share, discover and debate movies, TV series, music, podcasts (and soon books), supported by a community-rewarding system. It allows the creation of personal galleries to save and organize content, encouraging people to become curators while offering the possibility of monetization and recognition for valuable curation. We will test and develop a sustainable and collaborative way of monetization for culture creators & curators on the web, using Web Monetization to offer a better alternative than streaming business models and existing social media.
